~~~~~Normal Point of View~~~~~
Your eyes widened in shock. You didn't want to believe the scene before you, but it was true: Pitch had shot Jack just like he had shot Sandy a couple of years ago.
Bunnymund came into view and paused when he saw Jack on the ground. Then, he got mad. He balled his fists, and his nostrils flared. He grabbed his boomerangs and charged Pitch. Pitch hadn't know that Bunnymund was there so Bunnymund landed a blow in the face. However, Pitch, a bit stunned, recovered and fought back.
You closed your eyes tightly and balled your own fists. Anger raged through you, running through each of your veins. At that moment, the weirdest thing happened. Paint covered your hands where the chains touched your wrists. You looked down and realized what has happening: the paint was there so you could slip your hands out; one if your powers. You quickly pulled the chains off and ran over to where Jack lay on his back, leaning over his pale, motionless body. Tears streamed down your face. You used one of your hands to push a lock of his soft, white hair away from eyes. The black sand had already begun to spread.
"No..." you sobbed as you touch the sand on his chest.
Meanwhile, Bunnymund and Pitch were still fighting, with Bunnymund throwing his boomerangs while Pitch used his sand to defend and counterattack. Bunnymund was going so fast and so forcefully that Pitch had a hard time defending himself. It didn't take long before Pitch was laying on the ground against a wall with a boomerang at his throat.
"Turn him back! Now!" Bunnymund shouted in Pitch's face.
Pitch just smirked. "No can do, old friend. Once the sand has begun to spread, there is nothing I or anyone else can do. You might as well say your goodbyes now before he turns into my new assistant."
"You'll turn him back or I'll blast you all the way to Australia!"
Pitch just laughed. "I guess I'll see you there," he said before turning into a shadow and disappearing.
Bunnymund glanced around, desperately trying to find where Pitch had gone, and cursed.
He walked over and stopped a couple feet away from where you laid over Jack's body. The sand had spread to his thighs and upper arms. It wouldn't be long until his whole body was enveloped in the horrible color. Bunnymund stared in shock, not saying a word.
You ran your hand against Jack's pale cheek. Tears dripped off your cheeks and landed on the sand that was now up to his neck. To your surprise, the sand startled to sizzle and disappeared. You looked at the spot in shock, a sudden feeling of hope running through you. You looked at the arrow near his heart; the source of the sand. You forced yourself to think of the most horrible things ever: the death of your parents, the abuse from the others at school, the pain and suffering you went through constantly, and most important, Jack's death.
Tears fell from your face rapidly, dripping onto the area around the arrow. The sand was sizzling and disappearing quickly. Once the area around the arrow was clear, the rest of the sand, having no source, quickly went away as well. Eventually, the arrow disappeared, and all that was left was a hole in his sweatshirt.
"Jack! Can you hear me, Jack?" you asked as you shook him by the shoulders gently.
Silence. Then, all of a sudden, a soft moan escaped from his lips.
"Jack," you sighed and hugged him, laying on his chest and wrapping your arms around his neck. You felt arms wrap around you as well, weakly but still there.
"Jack," you repeated, tears falling even faster than they had before.
"It's okay. I'm here," he said weakly, barely above a whisper. "You owe me a new sweatshirt, by the way."
You laughed, and ran your fingers through his hair before helping him up into a sitting position. Bumnymund, who had been watching the whole time, finally spoke.
"You scared me half to death, you old snowman," he said, but he was smiling.
Jack gave a small laugh. "I knew you cared," he said and returned the smile, color beginning to come back to his skin. He turned his head and looked directly at you. Without warning, he leaned forward and kissed you on the lips, his soft lips on yours, the intoxicating smell of pine filling your nostrils. Your eyes fluttered closed.
Bunnymund laughed, breaking the two of you up. "I think it's time we head back to the pole," he said.
You and Jack nodded, and you helped him to his feet, grabbing both of your staffs. The walk through the tunnel took longer-Jack still had a difficult time walking-but eventually, the three of you made it back to North's workshop.
