My Freedom

Shut in my own endless world,
Shut out the world around me,
Not wanting to leave my solitude:
The only place where I feel free.
Characters start to come to life,
Vivid images I can see,
Going on an emotional journey
But no one else will agree.
These other lives that I live,
They fill me up with glee
But with enjoyment comes disappointment,
A relieving and deadly fee.
People try to make me leave my world,
Saying that for me they worry
But once I start, I cannot leave,
My mind is like a flurry,
Blowing everywhere, refusing to stop,
Covering everything in a fury.
But there is no one who will understand,
There will never be a “we”.
When others tell me my enjoyments are wrong,
It feels like I’m at the mercy of the jury,
Awaiting for my punishment
And freedom that will never be.
